Butterflies & Blossoms

This Thank You card is my entry for City Crafter's week #6 challenge to produce a recipe card using 1 ribbon, 2 papers and 3 flowers.

This was for Felicia

Inspiration :
Spiral flowers which are very easy to make. I recycled an opera brochure for mine. You will get a flower about half the diameter of the circle you start with. e.g. A 5cm circle will result in a 2cm flower (depending on how tightly you roll).

Supplies :
Pattern Paper - K&Company (Life Journey), Creative Imaginations (Marah Johnson's golden floral), Imaginisce (Now and Forever's forever fleur de lys), recycled opera brochure
Embellishments - pearls, flower pistil, trim, chipboard frame, leaf charms, butterfly charm, feathers, ribbon lace
Completed Card :
This is one of those rare projects where I'm not happy with the first attempt. Poor thing sat in the WIP box for more than a week while I moved on to Regal Portrait. Came back to it yesterday and tried out a new technique - sewing pearls onto ribbon lace and gathering the lace with a running stitch. Adding this and the black feathers, everything just clicked.

When assembling, my first instinct is to mount the Thank You chipboard frame on foam dots to accomodate the lace and feather. Then I played around with just tilting the chipboard. The end result is a much more interesting slant.
So satisfied to get it right finally that I got up early for photography. The morning sun hitting the lace gives it a nice finishing touch.
