Bunnies and Oranges
This is Sassfras altered can is my January design project for KCK. Their Challenge #5 is on until 28 February. Submit your Valentine or Chinese New Year project and you might be one of the winners walking away with S$30, S$50 or S$80 prize vouchers !
Two more weeks before Chinese New Year ! And my to-do list is pretty long : get my hair done, shop for reunion dinner ingredients, order red/yellow coxcomb plants (celosia) etc. And then, it'll be time for visiting family and friends. With mandarin oranges in hand as good-luck greeting items. To create a custom oranges-holder, I altered a waffle can. Using lots of bunnies on it to celebrate 2011 being the Year of the Rabbit.

Some Handtools required :Here are some 'making of' shots. Skip down to the next section if hand tools are not your thing. I drilled some handle holes, converted safety pins into bunny whiskers,. Then sanded, painted and 'glittered' up the alphas.
Now the Glamour Shots :
A closeup of the lid. You can just see the blue ribbon trim I treaded through the journal tag. and the row of fussy cut bunnies surrounding a layered chipboard flower.
And of the safety-pin whiskers on my bunnies with those sweet little flowers which serve to break up the cylindrical shape of the tin.

The 2011 label that I tucked just below the left handle.
The alphas were sanded down in order to 'take' the gold acrylic paint. And a first for me - gold glitter flakes which seemed to add a touch of 'richness' for a Chinese New Year project.
Wishing everyone who celebrates - a Prosperous and Happy Rabbit Year !
Linking up to these parties.Supplies : Sassafras Count Me In Collection - papers (love to learn, elementary, plus my pals, polka polka); stickers (flag banner, journal tag)
Sassafras embellishments - in a stich blossoms (earth tones), chipboard (garden bits orange)
Other embellishments - Basic Grey sugar rush brads, Basic Grey opaline half pearls, Maya Road Luxe Stoney Island Alpha, Studio18 rhinestones, flowers, ribbons, safety pins
