BCC #5 - Supplies

Wow, we're half way through the Blog Candy Conversation series at #5. Let's talk Supplies today.

  • Which would be your favourite catagory of scrappy supplies ?
  • Do certain items tend to pile up and not get used ?
  • What do you find yourself buying most often ?
Leave a comment on supplies and I'll draw one name on 29 May to receive :

K&Co Maison - 9 pcs of 12"x12" paper

Paper is my absolute favourite supply item. It offers the opportunity to create an endless variety of three dimensional designs. Which is probably the reason I always check out the paper range of any new release. And why I have an ever growing stash of it.

This mailholder tutorial for Hobby Sew. The majority of what I get in the mail are bills, notices and payment requests - not fun stuff. So I cheer myself up by putting them in this vintage style holder.

Tutorial :

  • Cut out this template for the base, using 0.25" for the glue tabs

  • Cut out the bottom flap and two side pieces. The insert is optional

  • Glue the insert over the base and fold the glue tabs inwards

  • Glue the bottom flap over the two side pieces and add some lace around the V

  • Glue the flap and sides onto the base. Add a wire around the top.

Butterfly Garden supplies : Flower Blooms, Dew Drops and Nature's Sanctuary papers, ephemera pack, clear pops. Other supplies : Basic Grey basics paper, ribbon, pearl brad, metal wire

Linking up to these parties.

Letters!!! I collect all kinds of Alphas....my fav es are the tiny ones...like Cosmo Crickets tiny types.....I love using them for journaling and I love to mix the alphas on a page to give interest to a title or something, What piles up......my scraps. I am awful about not using them but I am trying to get better at it since I can't bare to throw it away....lol

I am a paper addict as well! My paper scraps pile up, as I can't bear to part with anything large enough to create with! I have an entire file drawer full of gallon sized zip loc bags full of scraps and sorted by color. Whew....need to get some help, don't you think? Sigh...I just LOVE paper!!! Have a great day, Sandy! That mail sorter is fabulous, by the way - thanks for the tutorial! We all need to 'happy up' our bills!

Paper is definitely my addiction! Every time I go into a craft store, no matter what i go there for, I end up bringing home at least one sheet of paper that i can't live without - usually it is a pack or stack of paper actually :) I love this mailholder Sandy! i can't wait to try this out with some of my pretty papers :)

Flowers and BLING! That is what I collect the most of........as far as supplies that I have right now that I find that I dont use, that would have to be RUB ONS...........and I have a ton!

Sonja Milojevic said...

Hi Sandy, my name is Sonja and I am from Belgrade, Serbia. I love your mail holder! And my answer to your question would be - glitter! I don't know why, but I always buy more glitter and actually don't use it that often. I guess I like the look of it :) There's never too much glitter a for a girl to have...

Sherrie said...

Actually right now I am on a major Prima addiction! I am in love with using flowers, bling, and ribbon. My biggest problem is I don't take enough girly pictures to use them much! I use to be into eyelets and brads and have tons of them and I hardly use them now.

Angela Fehr said...

I love paper too - it's so budget-friendly! My favourite supply splurge is chipboard, I think.

Monica K. said...

Love the vintage paper holder. I have a huge stash of patterned papers and will have to try that!

I love flowers! i have so many. i add them to almost every page. I really need to use my scraps more. i always look at my scrap bin and think its sad:( All those little scraps just waiting to be used.....

Hi, Sandy! What beautiful creations are these!!! I love and usually buy most often all kind of flowers made by paper, fabric, metall or the knitted ones... :)

i am a paper addict too..! I hoard stacks of 6x6 paper pack and mostly untouch...can't bear to tear them up unless for a very special card. I will go to craft store every week and look for latest paper. My favourite is pink floral motif. I downloaded about 100gb of digital papers kit as well. The problem with me is, I am more incline to buying girlie pinkish & floral paper but the problem is, how do I use them on my 2 years old boy's layout...lol...
Beautiful project...! You are right, we can brighten our life with some simple crafty things in our house. Great inspiration Sandy!

Lovely paper holder! PAPER is my favorite thing!! I'm a hoarder, but I do use my share of it as well!!! I've loved paper since I was a little girl.. documented when I was 8 and a teacher had us fill out "If I could have anything, it would be" my answer: 300 sheets of paper! TFS! the fun scrappy posts!

Blossom inch said...

absolutely a fun way to cheer ourselves with those not happy mails right. thanks for sharing and love this project!

Valerie Durham said...

Well, any papercrafter who says they don't love paper is not telling the truth! Ha!
Although, I have to admit that paper and random embellishment packets have a tendency to pile up on me. You can only use so many embellishments on one page! I think I buy more adhesive than anything else, although I love bling..... Cute mail holder!

Shirl said...

What a pretty mail holder Sandy!
And yes, gorgeous papers have a way of bewitching you into bringin them home with you... I'm one of the victims too :)

Char- The Mad Shopper said...

Love your mailholder. Thanks for the templates.
Paper is my #1 favorite supply.
I collect vintage photos and other old stuff, but seldom use them.
The item I buy the most of is adhesive.

soooo pretty..makes getting bills not so painful:) How do you store all your gorgeous paper?

Ros said...

Adorable!!! I love this letter holder ... got to make one of those! ... and those K&Co papers look amazing ... the thing is I love papers ... MF, Bo Bunny K & CO. Prima ... all the elegant and pretty papers ... I love all the goodies you guys are able to get ... back here in the UK it is not so easily available so yes when I do get them ... I tend to hoard ... I tend to buy CS, Papers and flowers ... and lace ... and well anything really ...

BEAUTIFUL!.. thanks so much for the tutorial! :D
My fave category of supplies is always STAMPS!.. love them, have them.. want to hoard them! ;)
Usually all the laces tend to pile up and not get used.. but also is the case with brads..
I buy loads and loads of PAPER.. you just can't have enough right? ;)

TheresaE said...

paper is also my favorite! I have so many sheets. I cleaned out my stash a while back and was able to introduce my teenage son's girlfriend and her sister both to scrapbooking :)

Rain said...

Confession: I too am addicted to paper. I would love to frame it and hang it. Most of what I buy doesn't even need embellishing (but I don't let that stop me. Things that pile up are buttons, I like the thought of using them, but I never get them to look just right. Lastly, I buy ribbon by the yard! Hard a project leaves my room without ribbons (rarely just one piece).

Cath said...

Super fun project, Sandy! :)

dianapena8 said...

What a beautiful mail holder, thanks for sharing the tutorial :)
My favorite supply is also paper and in second place ribbon, the items that accumulate are rub-ons, I normally only use a few from a sheet, what I buy more often besides glue is ribbon, every time I go to a craft store I end up purchasing a spool or more :)

Nadhrah Maidin said...

what else should i say...u always wow me all the time! This is really pretty. My favourite will be die cuts. I'll die without them! hahaha.
Hmm...my accumulating stash that i hardly used but i still buy will be the papers. I have loads of them.
And i always find myself keep buying papers!
You take care dear!

I'm a sucker for stamps and punches, and I have a drawer of poor embellishments languishing. Lately I've been buying punches and embossing folders a lot.

who doesn't love paper? this is so gorgeous! see you later!

Eve said...

what a beautiful mailholder, Sandy! Thanks for the tutorial! My fav.catagory...hmmm... i would say RIBBON. And DP tends to pile up but not get used. I go to stamp store, scrapbooking store, craft store, and find those beautiful papers, and i have to buy but since i'm a die hard card maker, with Stamping the most, I stamp most of my card, making background papers, and stuff, so those beautiful papers pile up but not get used often...And again, Ribbon is something i buy most often...

Chris said...

Wow, such a pretty place to stash your mail! Well done.

I love paper too! I also have a ton of it. I tend to save the most gorgeous for.....what? I'm not sure! lol I also love stamps. I have quite a few, but I would love to have a million! I don't feel too guilty buying them, since they are not consumable! : ) My other favorite is flowers. I love flowers, handmade or I really love all the Prima flowers. I love all things Prima for that matter. Wow - I could go on and on. Your tutorial is great, btw. Such a great idea and how cute! Congrats on all your blogging!

That would be stickers. I bought lots of them as I collect them and they stack up. I just can't bring myself to use them.

Tracy Johnson said...

This is beautiful, I love the mail receiver.

It would have to be paper, I love all kinds of paper and prints, just cannot get enough. Paper would be closely followed by my Copic Markers or adhesives, gotta have all kinds.

I have piles and piles of paper scraps (which I pick away at) and embelishmens that come in kids. Ok! ok! I am just a horder, I love it all and have to have it ALL. I buy adhesive and paper 'every' time I hit the craft store, never fails.

Breaking Free From Old Ways said...

mine would have to be ribbon. I use it all the time for my scrapbook pages and other projects are my home. A project to me doesn't look complete without it and it is definitely what I buy the most of

Which would be your favourite catagory of scrappy supplies ?
Although I could never get enough paper, I love all the tools that assist in upping the creativity a notch. Whether it be the Fastener, with designer staples or the Cricut with precision cuts. I also like all things sparkly.
Do certain items tend to pile up and not get used ?
Not yet!
What do you find yourself buying most often ?
All of the above. I am new to scrapbooking & cardmaking so it has taken me over a year to build up a collection of papers, embellisments, inks, tools, organization, cartridges where I now feel I can take on and learn any new technique, participate in challenges and be creative.

I have to say that my collection of Prima flowers and Dusty Attic chipboard is getting a bit out of hand right now, but i'm not worried since i will definitely be using them! Those are probably my favorite supplies. I have a whole bunch of older stickers and chipboard shapes though that i tend to forget about, not to mention loads of paper (back to when collections were rare and we used to buy only one sheet of paper at a time). I have to say that i am a little stuck when it comes to using those, but i do use it mostly for cards. I often make little kits for my nieces so they can play along with me. It helps me get rid of some stuff (to make room for more - hehehe) and makes them happy at the same time :)

MML said...

My favourite catatory has to be stickers first ( me and my son love them ) then paper(I love the different colors, designs, and textures)
Stickers definitely tend to pile up and not get used - mostly because I have so many stickers and I don't want to part with some of them.lol
And I am always buying stickers ror two diffrent reasons- my son is autistic so we use them for good behavior and such, and for use as decorations and accents to different projects.

This would really come in handy for me, considering I have a roommate and we share a mailbox. It would be great for when either of use check the mail. We could leave the others mail in the little box. I will be sure to try out this tutorial. The paper is way too cute by the way. I'm trying to build my paper collection.

I love your mail box....thanks for the tutorial...this butterfly garden paper is one of my favs at the moment. I adore paper and ribbon and can't seem to get enough, also dies and embossing folders. I also have a weakness for ephemera, but have some stickers, rubons and such just lanquishing in my craft room. But could I part with it, probably not. My name is Patti and I am a hoarder. lol

Turid said...

I am a confessed paperoholic. No 12 step program will ever free me from this addiction. Once I see a pretty paper my inner hoarder takes control.Problem is I am not able to part with the treasures, and if I use some, I tend to hang on to every little left over scrap...

playfulmeowz said...

Wow! Love your mailholder! It can also be a photoholder and I'm going to try to make it next week for pressies for a girl's birthday goody bags.

I love papers too! Started collecting papers since I was in school before I even heard of scrapbooking. All kinds of papers, from stationary to wrapping pappers, and of course now, SB. And coz I buy mostly papers, I have a huge (by my standards) stash and had to stop myself from buying any for a few months until I use more of it!

Peg Coombes - pegcraftalot said...

I absoluteley love your mail envelope and may even have a go at making one soon. thanks for your comment on my blog

Lillian Child said...

I forgot to answer your questions. My favorite catatgory of scrappy supplies would be flowers, and my ribbon supply seems to pile up and not get used. And I can ALWAYS find a new piece of patterned paper to add to my stash!

wintam said...

I see everyone writes about what they collect, but you asked to tell you what do we buy the most. Well, that must be,,, adhesives! all sorts of them - liquid, double sides, 3d, anything goes! But what I love to by the most are papers, of course! and alphas... and chipboard...and bling... and flowers...and they all pile... LOL... but I try to renew the piles...
BTW: the mailer is amazing!
