Flip & Repeat
Those words perfectly describe the design story behind this page about my old cat An-An. She loved to crouch in the long grass and this extreme close-up was taken with a zoom. I crop the photo into a circle and use two of them, one flipped horizontally, to create the effect of looking at her through a pair of binoculars.
The photos go onto a square of Yearbook paper which also holds my subtitle and a journal label. A long black arrow, printed on transparency, anchors this block to the bottom right edge of the page. These elements are flipped horizontally and repeated again on the top left.
Now I have a stepped-block design extending diagonally across the page. To break things up a little two border strips are added to the top and bottom, and an overall frame of pattern papers is used define the edges of the layout. Finally brown embellishments in the form of buttons and Amy Tangerine stickers create a visual trail leading the eye from the top right down to the photos.
Here's the sketch of my layout which will be the basis of Citrus Twist's sketch challenge for the week of 25th November. Play along using any supply you have in your stash and you might win some gift vouchers to the Citrus Twist store.
